Another photo from Sunday afternoon in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I adore photography that ‘breaks the rules.’ Yes, I adore blur. It was a perfect day for it! If you haven’t been to Greenpoint before it is definitely worth exploring. If you are interested in photo tour there all you need to do it request it. It isn’t possible for me to list every tour that I can offer. As well, if you are interested in exploring intentional camera movement or other photographic techniques we can do that as well. Photo tours are for New Yorkers as well. And you can be a group of up to 4 people for no additional charge. You can see some of my suggested tours on my site as well as reviews of my tours and workshops as well. Greenpoint afternoon, 22 April, 2017.
“Great guide to the “locals” New York. Leanne was a fantastic tour guide, she catered to all of our needs and made the tour very enjoyable. We came with 16 students and only a few were actually interested in photography – however, every single student came away raving about the tour and loved the experience. Leanne met us at a convenient location and then took us to Chinatown. We explored the non-touristy parts of the location and were given great subjects and locations to shoot. Our students also had great fun acting as models and shooting on site. We will definitely do this again on our next tour to New York.” – Emma, Perth, Australia – class trip, April 2017. https://www.shootnewyorkcity.com/reviews/2017/4/19/review-by-emma-perth-australia
The Lower East Side is still one of the coolest neighborhoods in Manhattan. If you live here or you’re in the know, it’s called L.E.S. spelled out. There are many independent businesses there and some good street art as well. I do photo tours in this neighborhood all the time. Either as an extension of the Chinatown Photo Tour or the East Village Tour. All of my tours are customized to your interests. You can see reviews on my site and also a video of me on the home page. See and photograph a real neighborhood in the city and experience the Real New York.
Here’s another photo from the Street Photography Workshop in Harlem yesterday. Every Sunday you will find many people all dressed-up for church. But yesterday was Easter Sunday! Even more people were dressed up! I always try to capture a photo with people unaware of me if possible. But when people see me taking their photo, I just smile. It’s very rare that they are upset about having their photo taken. And often people ask to have their photo taken! You can see information about upcoming workshops and reviews on my site. Photo taken 16 April 2017.
A photographer recently told me that he took a street photography workshop with a known photographer here in New York City and he was disappointed. There were 20 people in the workshop and no real one-on-one attention. Oh, he travelled all the way from Berlin for this workshop! It cost him a good deal of money for that! My workshops are a maximum of 6 people. That means that I can work with everyone as a group and individually. Whether you are interested in overcoming a fear of street photography or you’re looking to work on composition and creative approaches, this workshop is good for you. You can see my workshops listed on my site and you can also see some of my recent street photography as well. And reviews from previous attendees and on TripAdvisor as well.
If you are interested in shooting street photography in New York City, I have a number of workshops. Whether you are experienced in street photography and want to explore neighborhoods and look at different possible styles of street photography. Or you have an interest in it with little or no experience in street photography, no problem. My workshops run the gamut and are addressed to the group in general as well as working individually as well. My next workshop will be in East Harlem on 23 April and there are still a few spaces. You can register online and the weather has been looking really good lately. You can read reviews on the site as well. I also have a workshop in Bushwick on Sunday 30 April which is more about street art and creative photography. But we are able to get some street photography like the photo shown here from the workshop on 26 March 2017.
Whether you are new to street photography or are experienced with it, I have a number of workshops where we explore different neighborhoods and discuss different techniques to capture street photography and composition. We also work on creative in camera techniques as well. I am a licensed New York City Tour Guide and a photographer for many decades now. My next Street Photography Workshop is in East Harlem/El Barrio on 23 April. You can register online and also there are reviews from previous attendees as well. And we always have fun!
New Yorkers are fabulous! Such a sense of style and they are often so oblivious to everything else going on around them. Everywhere you go are people who are texting. Fortunately there are a few who actually stop to do it like this man. He was unaware that I took his photo. This photo was taken in the East Village on a recent photo tour. I have private photo tours and workshops which are scheduled and open to the first 6 people who register for them. We walk and talk exploring neighborhoods and talking about composition and street photography and they are always geared to the individual(s) involved. And you can see reviews from previous participants on my site. 21 March 2017.
I was out giving a photo tour about 2 weeks ago in Greenwich Village & Soho. We did a lot of street photography. They’re New Yorkers and photographers! So I didn’t take them down any streets they haven’t been on. Well, maybe with the exception of Minetta Lane where this photo was taken. But that’s not the point. The tour experience and photography is always about seeing things with new eyes. How excellent that were able to capture such amazing shadows! And that we had a great time together. But we always work with the elements as they are provided to us. Some things can’t be planned. If you want to plan a photo tour with me you can see a number of my suggested tours and you can also contact me. That I can plan! You can also see reviews by people who have taken my tours in the past. – step into the light, 21 March 2017
